Yana Herzog's "Wild Reflections"
“My artwork "Wild Reflections," is a picture of healthy trees and in the middle is a reflection of the trees in flames. It is to express the alarming, unsettling reality of wildfires. In my artwork I wanted to create an image to spread awareness of wildfire prevention. To do so, I gathered nine mirrors and glued them to a foam board I cut in an appropriate size. I created a board with clay and added details with sculpting tools and acrylic paint to give the handmade frame an old luxury effect. I also used acrylic paint to give the appearance that the frame was burned in some places from the fires in the reflection. After I completed the framed mirror piece, I took it to a beautiful location that embraces healthy wildlife. I shot some pictures. I took the one I like best and imported it into Photoshop and made the reflection of the trees on fire to complete my artwork.”
